How to Apply with Susannah Taylor

Susannah Taylor is the founder of the online beauty and health destination GetTheGloss.com, former beauty and health editor of Vogue and an authority in the world of beauty and wellbeing.

Ever since Susannah was a young child it was her dream to work on a fashion and beauty magazine and she would plaster pictures from Vogue magazine from floor to ceiling over her bedroom walls. Highly creative, she went to Central St Martins School of Art and on leaving St Martins, Susannah’s dream of working on a magazine came true when she went to Conde Nast’s Glamour Magazine. She then went onto Vogue as Beauty and Health editor, before launching getthegloss.com. Its aim was to utilise her unique knowledge and her little black book to share the advice of the best health and beauty experts the world has to offer. With very little experience in digital at the time, she then used her creative talent to turn Get The Gloss into the much bigger beauty and health website that is it today.

Beauty Regime

In general my beauty regime is pretty simple. As I get older I actually use less products rather than more. I believe that many of today’s skin problems are caused by overuse of products and tools that fiddle with and suffocate the skin. In the mornings I cleanse my skin with a wash-off milky cleanser before splashing with cold water to close pores and to make my skin look fresh. I love starting my day with The Cream by Augustinus Bader because of the stem cell science behind it – I have genuinely seen an improvement in my skin since using it and it leaves my skin fresh, plump, non-greasy and perfectly primed for makeup. In the evenings, I remove my eye makeup and then soak a muslin cloth in warm water and press it onto my skin before wiping away the day. The muslin cloth is mildly exfoliating which is a bonus – I think regular, gentle exfoliation is important to allow products to penetrate the skin properly . Next I moisturise before bed and take the product down my neck onto my decollete. The Rich Cream by Augustinus Bader is a favourite - it has a deeply nourishing texture without feeling greasy.
