We asked over 1,000 women about their skincare routines, products, and thoughts about skincare in general. Everything from what works, what doesn't, and what they wish they could tell their younger selves.

We had over 1,004 individuals participate in our market research report. All respondents are female, 35 or older, and live in the US, UK, Canada, or Australia. All participants use skincare products and have purchased new products in the past 12 months.


Skincare Tips For Younger-Looking Skin
Our market report survey provided insight into what women think about skincare and what they wish they knew earlier. We hope you can use this data to make meaningful adjustments to your youth skincare routine.

Sun Protection is Vital
While everyone knows how important it is to apply sunscreen, the product can sometimes be an afterthought in your everyday routine. 65% of survey respondents agreed they use sunscreen once a day to a few times a week. It was the third most-used skincare product, right behind moisturizers and cleansers.
While it's clear that most responses have an SPF in their preventative skincare routine, they could have been more consistent with the usage. 74% of the survey respondents agree that the top advice they wish they told their younger selves was to start applying sunscreen when going into the sun.
When using sunscreen, it's best to apply it daily as part of your morning routine. Look for an SPF of 35 or higher, which you may need to apply every two hours throughout the day during summer and spring.

Around 75% of the respondents reported having morning and evening skincare routines, while less than 3% reported having no routine.
If you're new to skincare, it's important to remember you don't need a 10-step routine for it to be effective. All you need is consistency. Start small with a daily cleaner, moisturizer, and sunscreen. From there, build out your routine to address your unique skin concerns. You'll want to use your products consistently during your morning and nighttime routine.
Preventative Skincare: The Importance of Moisturizing
Prevention is key to maintaining. Our study suggests that nearly 75% of women are trying to address fine lines and wrinkles with their skincare routine. According to our report, moisturizers are the top skincare product used, with over 93% of respondents saying they use one regularly. Over 80% of respondents use a moisturizer at least once or twice a day. Over 59% of respondents wish they could tell their younger selves to use a moisturizer to retain elasticity.

Our research report found that women are more likely to invest heavily in quality products and skincare services over exercise or haircare. Respondents also ranked quality ingredients first in overall importance among a set of factors when considering a skincare product.
31% of respondents said scientific research and clinical trials were as important as quality ingredients. When asked what they wish they could have told their younger selves, 49% of women over 35 regret not investing in quality skincare sooner.
