Five Skincare Challenges That Frustrate Us the Most

Five Skincare Challenges That Frustrate Us the Most

05 June 2026

Let's face it — everyone wants flawless skin. No one wants to deal with blemishes, redness, or constant irritation. Many people deal with these types of skin concerns because they aren't using the right skincare products.

We recently surveyed a group of women over the age of 35 to better understand their skincare habits. Our study uncovered five common skincare concerns and challenges their routines aren't addressing. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the research data and explore effective alternatives.

1,000+ Women Reveal Their Biggest Skincare Concerns

In our recent Drive Research Study, we surveyed over 1,000 women to discover the primary skincare concerns their current regimen fails to address. We asked participants to rate their skincare routines on a scale of one to five. A rating of one indicated poor effectiveness, while five indicated high effectiveness.

Here's what the responses revealed about their common skin problems.

1. Fine Lines/Wrinkles

Fine lines and wrinkles are one of the most common skincare problems for many people. These skin concerns are a natural part of aging, with decreased collagen and elastin leading to crow's feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and forehead wrinkles. Sun exposure, smoking, stress, and pollution can also cause wrinkles. Of course, some of these causes aren't always easy to avoid. This is why many people still struggle to find products that help maintain a more youthful complexion.

During our survey, 42.7% of respondents were ambivalent (rated 3/5) about how well their current products treat fine lines, while 14.4% were ambivalent or worse (rated 1, 2, or 3/5).

The best way to reduce the appearance of this skin concern is to reassess your skincare routine and prioritize moisturizing products with effective ingredients. Products like The Rich Cream are formulated with TFC8® technology and natural ingredients such as evening primrose oil, argan oil, and vitamin E. This clinically proven moisturizer deeply hydrates and restores the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines with consistent use.

During our four-week clinical trials, the appearance of forehead wrinkles was reduced by 37%, and the appearance of crow's feet wrinkles was visibly reduced by 54%.

2. Cellulite

Cellulite, caused by deposits of unwanted fat underneath the skin, can make the skin on your body appear lumpy or uneven, often on the legs, buttocks, and stomach. It's normal but can be challenging to visually reduce without the right products.

Our survey found that 38.4% of respondents rated their current regime poorly, giving it a score of 1/5 or 2/5. The dissatisfaction increased to almost 70%, when including those who were ambivalent (3/5).

To reduce the appearance of cellulite, it is essential to reconsider your diet and prioritize a more active lifestyle. You can also invest in higher-quality bodycare products that help smooth the skin's appearance. The Body Cream is an intensely hydrating moisturizer that can help reduce the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, and other skin imperfections. During a 12-week study on reducing cellulite, participants noticed a 75% decrease in the appearance of cellulite on the hips and a 64% decrease in the thighs.

3. Dark Circles

Dark under-eye circles are another common skincare problem associated with age. They can be caused by genetics, aging, a vitamin B12 deficiency, or a lack of sleep. During our survey, nearly 10% of respondents rated their skincare routine a 1 out of 5 when it comes to treating dark circles, and over 60% rated 3 or lower.

The best way to eliminate their appearance is to ensure the fragile under-eye skin is hydrated and supple. The Eye Cream is an all-in-one cream formulated to boost firmness and reduce the appearance of dark circles. During a 12-week clinical trial, The Eye Cream improved the feel of skin firmness by 165%.

4. Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is caused by extra melanin in the skin, which leads to discoloration or a patchy appearance. It typically refers to sun spots and age spots on the face and body. This discoloration can impact your appearance, making you look older than you are. More than half, 57%, of our survey respondents scored hyperpigmentation at 3 or lower, indicating their skincare routine is ineffective at addressing this concern.

This skin concern can be challenging to eliminate. To fade marks from aging or the sun, you'll need to revisit your skincare routine and make sure you're prioritizing sunscreen daily. Adding a product like The Serum into your routine can help you take a more targeted approach to skincare. The formula is designed to support total complexion correction by reducing hyperpigmentation and improving your skin's appearance. During our 12-week clinical trials, The Serum reduced the appearance of hyperpigmentation by 80%.

5. Redness

Over 48% of survey respondents rated redness a 3 or lower. Skin sensitivities, skincare products, and external factors can cause redness and irritation. Determining the cause of redness is the most important part of treating it.

If the redness is consistent, you may want to consult with a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis. Ongoing redness can be caused by a skin condition called rosacea. Rosacea and other inflammatory skin concerns are relatively common.

Once you determine the cause of your skincare concern, evaluate your skincare routine to ensure you're using products that don't irritate your skin. Ingredients like parabens, alcohol, and sulfates should be avoided, especially if you have sensitive skin. Instead, consider switching to clean, natural ingredients.

The Ultimate Soothing Cream is formulated for irritation-prone skin. It contains a potent blend of vitamin B3, black cumin oil, and primrose oil to help calm and hydrate the skin. During 12-week clinical trials, 100% agreed visible signs of irritation are instantly soothed, and 98% agreed irritated skin looks less red.

Other Skincare Challenges Worth a Mention

Our Drive Research study also unveiled other common skincare problems. We asked the survey respondents to rate their skin challenges from 1 to 5, with 5 indicating their skincare routine works very well and 1 indicating it doesn't work very well. Here’s what we found:

• Dryness: Over 21% of respondents scored dryness a 3 or lower.
• Blemishes: Over 45% of respondents scored blemishes a 3 or lower.
